Are You Ready For The Party?

The party season is beckoning and we all want to look hot and attract attention! Idol celebrity fan Rochelle Wiseman from The Saturday’s shows us how its done, she looks mighty fetching in these recent snaps of her bombing around town in Idol.

We love her all-black outfit with bright red bag and matching lips! Our Idol leather-look jacket is super comfy and snug with ultra long arms and a furry collar. It’s perfect to wear to the party, as it’s sexy and will off-set your favourite dress perfectly, giving you that sought rock edge! Rochelle also rocks our black ruffle dress that gently cascades at the front, styling with leopard print boots, animal print is huge this winter.

We are very inspired…so Rochelle where’s the party? X

These pieces are from the new Idol collection inspired by Armour and are available in select New Look stores from the 2nd November.

Cool Kid

As if having Will Smith as her dad wasn’tcool enough, child prodigy Willow Smith has made her own way into the world of showbiz by becoming an international style icon at the age of 9. You heard us right, not even into double digits yet, Willow is already taking the music industry by storm with her new single, ‘Whip My Hair.’

Enough to give Rihanna a run for her money? We think so! Having signed to none other than Jay-Z’s label Roc Nation, Willow couldn’t be in better company to launch her career as a pop-star.

With previous roles in films such as ‘I am Legend’ with dad Will and ‘Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa’, Willow is practically a veteran of the film industry. When she’s not producing hit records and setting new trends, Willow is a youth ambassador for Project Zambia, which helps children orphaned by AIDS in Africa.

What a star! Willow’s trademark oversized sunglasses are giving us major style envy here at Idol, and we love her leopard-print ensemble as seen above. Definitely too cool for school!

‘Think Punk’ By Mario Sorrenti

Don’t you just love the raging rebellion that the ‘Think Punk’ fashion spread featured in Vogue Paris October 2010 ignites, we do! The shots by legendary photographer Mario Sorrenti have plenty of attitude and dissidence, which is so the Idol girl! We also very much like the unique look that model Frreja Beha Erichsen dons for the shoot, it shouts David Bowie, who has been an icon for individualism for decades. Work.

WE LOVE THE LIKE!

We love a good girl band here at Idol, and they don’t come much better than The Like, who ooze style and talent. Starting out in 2001, The Like have long been on the music scene, but their recent collaboration with Mark Ronson has earned them worldwide fame and made sure they’re the band everyone is talking about. Dubbed “a future cult classic” by Q magazine, their sound is certainly unique. Think Blondie meets Dusty Springfield with a sprinkling of Karen O and the style of Twiggy circa 1960. It’s official, retro is back!

Since the band’s 2006 debut album, ‘Are You Thinking What I’m Thinking?’ both the original bass and keyboard players have been replaced by members Laena Geronimo and Annie Monroe, and the girls have given their style a 60s twist, complete with trend-setting hair, funky mini dresses and kohl-rimmed eyes. The Like’s new album, ‘Release Me’, has been praised by music critics and after supporting the Arctic Monkeys on tour, we’re pretty sure they couldn’t get any cooler if they tried.

We love the achingly hip video for ‘He’s Not a Boy’, which radiates sultry sex appeal, taking you straight back to the era of rock and roll and larger-than-life eyelashes. Their cover of The Shirelles’ ‘Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?’ is definitely worth a listen, showcasing singer Elizabeth ‘Z’ Berg’s stunning voice and musician Laena Geronimo’s enviable talent on the violin and acoustic guitar. These girls look every bit as good as they sound, and make us want to pile on the eyeliner, grab a mini dress and rock out in true 60’s style.

Frieze Art Fair 2010

Idol attended the Frieze Art Fair this weekend and were overwhelmed with it’s size, the fair represents over 1,000 of the world’s most innovative artists! Mulling around we especially enjoyed the sculpture park, especially works by Hans Peter Feldan, Ceal Floyer and Marie Lund.

Another must-see was David Hockney’s blown-up computer paintings, although done with Paintshop they displayed the artists recognisable personal and unique paint-strokes, which was unexpected! We also loved the poetry park that explored poetry as a physical form through sculpture and print. On the Friday we went evening music was rocking with Hercules and The Love Affair. Amazing!

Ballets Russes Exhibition

The Ballets Russes has been influencing theatre, art and fashion since the turn of the 20th Century until this day. With designers such as John Galliano taking influence from the performers extravagant and atmospheric costumes in his collections, the timeless productions have never stopped inspiring. Now the V&A Museum have endowed us with a spectacular exhibition with costumes and set designs by Matisse, Braque and Coco Chanel. This exhibition has been highly anticipated and is not to be missed, as its content has made such a symbolic mark on art and culture.

Ziggy Stardust

Better known as David Bowie, the genius that inspired countless musicians is making a come back in the form of his new book, ‘Bowie: Object.’

Rumoured to be leading a quiet life in Switzerland, Bowie has opted out of the showbiz lifestyle since his last world tour in 2004.

Having agreed to few interviews since the tour, Bowie has also claimed that he doesn’t intend to jump on the celebrity Twitter bandwagon anytime soon. (Sob!)

The NME paid tribute to Bowie’s legacy this month with a selection of artists declaring their love for the singer and how his songs have inspired their own music.

Mark Ronson, Lady Gaga and Brandon Flowers all showed their love for the star, with The Killers’ front-man stating that Bowie “changed my life.”

Idol fave Janelle Monae also spoke about Bowie’s influence on her style and music, having discovered the musician whilst trying to make her big-break into the music industry.

Regrettably, the man himself has no plans to reignite his alter ego Ziggy Stardust, having denied claims of an appearance at this summer’s Coachella festival.

We plan to hold our own tribute festival with Bowie-themed fancy dress and drinks named after the star. Aladdin Sane Cocktail anyone?

Here at Idol we think Bowie’s style is as influential as his music and his trademark lightening-bolt make up has been an inspiration to everyone from The Saturdays to Tilda Swinton and La Roux.

While Bowie’s stage outfits may be too daring for day-to-day, inject a little bit of Ziggy Stardust into your life with the Idol Studded Wedge and Feather Stud Belt.

We think Bowie would approve!

Idol Muse / Model Wei Chiung Lin / Post 1

Hi IDOL fans! I am so excited to be here to tell how much I adore IDOL!

I am a London based model. I was modelling in my hometown Taiwan for a while before relocating to my favourite city London. After finishing my degree and masters in fashion I continued to model. Luckily I have been working with lots of top fashion teams and stylists, one of which is Idol. They are very passionate and professional about their work, which is very inspiring. I found the design and P.R. team at Idol are amazing and thank them for creating beautiful collections for us all to enjoy and wear.

Look at my velvet tunic print dress, it is definitely the finest print I have ever seen in velvet, I was very impressed. And another unforgettable work is the IDOL chain dress, so well designed and made; it could be an haute-couture piece. Hundreds and hundreds of metal chains hang delicately together and the price is so affordable too and when I wear Idol the clothes make me feel so sexy and confident.

Public Displays of Keith

In 1978 Keith Haring moved to New York where he was inspired by the city and its alternative art scene, created outside of the museums and the mainstream. Keith found himself influenced by the streets. He met fellow artists, and graffiti storytellers of the subway, as well as musicians and dancers and involved himself in exhibitions and performances at Club 57. Keith’s desire was to create public art. In 1980 he began displaying his artwork on unused black advertising panels in the subway. This way he was able to reach a large number of his audience, which he dedicated his work to. Between 1980 and 1985 he created hundreds of these subway drawings. Keith became a renowned artist and worked with some amazing cultural figures. He died in 1990, but his work can be seen in London’s Pop Art Exhibition, Sold Out: American Pop Art from the 1970s and the 1980’s (Olyvia Fine Art Gallery), as well as many other galleries across the world.

Kelly O Rocks!

Ever since The Osbournes hit our screens way back in 2002, Kelly immediately became the star of the show, with her teenage angst, contagious humour and un-fazed attitude to stardom.

Since the series finished, Kelly has stormed the music, fashion and acting world, and has even appeared on Dancing with the Stars and Chicago.

Heading up Project Catwalk, Kelly guided wannabe fashion designers through the cut-throat competitions and certainly brought her own style to the series.

Here at Idol we love Kelly for her unique fashion sense and daring attitude, which has resulted in some crazy and confident outfits, and not to mention her ever-changing hairstyles.

Last week Kelly caught the headlines by performing on stage with the PussyCat Dolls, dressed as a sexy sailor and surrounded by gorgeous dancers.

As well as being best mates with Agyness Deyn and former girlfriend of model Luke Worrell, Kelly is a shrewd business woman and we hope she will never lose that girl-next-door attitude we all know and love.

This is our tribute to you, Miss O!
