Punk is Back, So Wave the Union Jack!
Right now at Idol it’s all about ‘new wave’ Punk, so BEWEARE! We’re talking serious style, attitude and nothing less. Just check out Idol’s Union Jack prints, the ultimate symbol of Punk culture that began in 1970’s Britain. Expressing anti-consumerism, many Punks would wear second-hand clothing, so team up your Union Jack Idol dress with a pair of vintage boots.
Today punk culture has very much gone back to the underground scene, ‘Pop Punk’ and bands such as ‘Green Day’ help to keep the message of Punk alive, and so will we. So let us revive Punk by shaving the sides of our heads, like Punk princess Alice Dellal, and fanatically accessorising Idol’s Punk inspired collection with silver chains, jewellery, badges and lots of attitude!

The Autobiography And Sex Life Of Andy Warhol
We were pleased to see that The Autobiography And Sex Life Of Andy Warhol book is going to be re-released at the end of the month. Originally published in 1971 by John Wilcock, the new edition has been re-designed in a pop-art style and all the copy errors have been corrected. John Wilcock was the joint founder of Interview Magazine with Warhol in 1969, so he knew, from an insider’s point-of-view what was happening on the scene back-then, which makes this book all the more intriguing! Warhol embodies the spirit of today’s celebrity obsessed culture once saying: ‘My idea of a good picture is one that's in focus and of a famous person’. We are wondering what he would of thought of the name Idol? To find out more follow the Facebook.

Hail Lord Hamilton
We lured Hamilton, hair and make-up artist away from his brushes ‘n’ powder on the Idol shoot on Sat to probe him about a few things. Whenever we bump into him at parties he’s metamorphosed into a completely new character, he’s definitely difficult to discern, in a very humouring way. We would describe him as dashing with a dryer then gin sense of humour, a creative talent who has worked with Dita Von Teese, Agyness Deyn and Lily Cole! He’s a very playful person and it’s hard to get him to stay anywhere at one time and it’s thanks to his assistant Bunny that we are able to tease some tit-bits in between creating boobs out of stick on moustaches. During the shoot it’s fitting he’s wearing a black tee with the words OCD, on the front ‘cos we’d call him an Oh-so Charming Dandy!
What’s the best thing about your job?
That I can be constantly creative, every-day’s a new day. Also the travel - according to Facebook I have been to 152 cities and 38 different countries.
What’s your favourite place in the world?
There are two places that I have been on shoots that were memorable, one was very hot and the other freezing. The first a place called Goldeneye in Jamaica, a retreat nestled among tropical forests and lush gardens. It was actually the house belonging to Ian Fleming who wrote all the Bond films. Built in the Fifties it has been modernised with an Oriental feel, very 007. The other place, in contrast, was minus 20 degrees, a hotel built of ice and snow in a village called Jukkasjarvi in Sweden. To get to the hotel we had to take a Dog Sled from Kiruna, when we arrived…with very cold noses….we were shooting models in their bikinis.
Describe your style
I would say ‘expensive teenager’.
Who is your Idol?
(NOTES TO READER: Hamilton replies without a hesitation) King Julian from Madagascar
I would never...be lazy
10 years from now I’ll be a…grown up
I’m lovin’…plimpplamppletteren

Taylor Momsen
We cannot believe that this girl is just sixteen...we all know her for playing the character of Jenny Humphrey in Gossip Girls but she is also the lead singer of a band called Pretty Reckless, which will release its first EP on June 22nd. A talented young lady, who writes all her own songs, sings and plays guitar too. Besides acting and being in a band, Taylor is also a model and is currently the Spring/Summer 2010 face for New Look. We think she looks gorgeous here wearing our new Idol collection and can't wait to see what her next movements will be!

Lady Gaga / Alejandro
We think this epic video released this week is spectacular and visually stunning, before hitting the web it became a major twitter trend and crashed the site several times and also put the Lady Gaga fan site under too!
Despite it’s huge sensation the film has created much controversy as it shows Gaga swallowing rosary beads whilst dressed as a nun none-the-less!! Steven Klein the legendary photographer turned-pop video director explained to MTV that his creation was “not meant to denote anything negative” and that the film "represents the character's battle between the dark forces of this world and the spiritual salvation of the soul. Thus at the end of the film, she chooses to be a nun, and the reason her mouth and eyes disappear is because she is withdrawing her senses from the world of evil and going inward towards prayer and contemplation." Well whatever the reason we think that it’s beautiful and a true aesthetic accomplishment...WORK!

Why We Love POOLDISCO...
The long-weekend saw the beckoning of more POOLDISCO glamour ‘n’ glitterati at Shoreditch House. We had such a marvelous time that we thought we’d give you the low-down on what makes this party like, er like the best in London!
NUDITY: Well peeps at the pool party were definitely flashing some flesh and with so many hot girls and boys around we were treated to some sexy six-packs, slinky backs, thigh highs, cheeky cheeks and even some synchronised swimmers in gold metallic swimwear - fab!!
CELEB SPOTTING: The stars were mingling and strutting their stuff we spotted The Saturdays, Marvin from JLS, Amelle a' la Sugababes, Lisa Snowden, Melanie Blatt, Jodie Harsh and maybe some were in disguise as there were so many theatrical Gareth Pugh style costumes! There definitely could have been more celebs that we couldn’t fathom through the fashion.
THE POOL: Jump in if you dare and get pushed in at your peril. We enjoyed watching all the ladies and lady-men trying to walk precariously ‘round the pool in their skyscraper hills, one slip and it’s goodbye to the tan, tights and spidery lashes…watch out…there’s always one…hilarious!
FOOD: The pizzas at Shoreditch House are scrumptious and we like that we can lounge in the Secret Garden with furry blankets whilst the staff fight their way through the fashionistas and even deliver to the dance-floor whilst your sipping a margarita!
HAIR ARTISTS: There were masters at hand to give you a Hollywood siren up-do, Coif your hair into a quiff or maybe even a directional fringe. So what will it be?
IDOL: The Idol team were giving away gorgeous summer scarves and were interviewing those with the least inhibitions about their style and what would be the soundtrack to their life, the most common response to this question: ‘this song playing, of course’!!
TUNES: Throughout the afternoon we were treated to some summertime retro classics from Blondie, Prince and 70’s disco but we especially liked when Kris Di Angelis was up….but really you just had to be there!!
